Subject: End of Service Reminder for eTrust Antivirus 7.0 and End of Service Notification for Specified eTrust Antivirus 7.1 Versions
CA is continually working to improve our software and services to best meet the needs of our customers. With this goal in mind, the CA threat management organization has decided to discontinue development and support for specified versions of eTrust Antivirus 7.1, as described in greater detail below. We would also like to take this opportunity to review the support schedule for currently supported releases of eTrust and CA Anti-Virus software.
For eTrust Antivirus 7.1 Customers:
Development and support of the following eTrust Antivirus 7.1 products is currently scheduled to be discontinued on December 31, 2008. This notification is only valid for the following products:
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Microsoft Windows operating systems (Desktop and Server)
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Microsoft Exchange (Plug-In)
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Lotus Notes/Domino (Plug-In)
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for XP Embedded SDK
Effective December 31, 2008, CA will no longer provide product updates, support, enhancements or signature updates of any kind for these specific versions. All other versions of eTrust Antivirus 7.1 (noted below) will continue to be supported without interruption. Customers are encouraged to plan for migration to CA Anti-Virus 8.1 as soon as possible in order to minimize interruptions and to support and recognize the benefits of the latest features and enhancements this release has to offer.
The following products are NOT impacted in any way
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Network Appliance
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for Linux, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, Apple Mac OS X and Novell NetWare operating systems
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for the Gateway
eTrust Antivirus 7.1 for the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating systems
For eTrust Antivirus 7.0 Customers:
As a follow-up to the original announcement from May 31, 2007, CA would like to remind our customers that support for eTrust Antivirus r7.0 is scheduled to be discontinued as of May 31, 2008. We again encourage you to plan for migration to CA Anti-Virus r8.1 at your earliest convenience .
It is important for customers to understand that on May 31, 2008, CA will no longer provide product updates, support, enhancements or signature updates of any kind for the eTrust AntiVirus r7.0 platform.
CA Anti-Virus r8.1:
CA Anti-Virus r8.1 is the next generation in comprehensive anti-virus security for business PCs, servers and PDAs. It combines proactive protection against malware with new, powerful management features that are designed to stop and remove malicious code before it enters your network, helping to reduce system downtime.
The new planned features in CA Anti-Virus r8.1 are:
Support for Non-Windows Platforms
Support for Cisco NAC and Microsoft NAP
Support for Microsoft Windows Vista
Additional Language Support
In addition to supporting English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese, CA Anti-Virus r.8 is planned to support Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese.

To help with this transition, we are offering the following:
A no-charge software upgrade from eTrust Antivirus r7.1 or 7.0 to CA Anti-Virus r8.1, for any customer with an active maintenance contract for eTrust Antivirus r7.1 or 7.0.
Documentation to help prepare you for your upgrade to CA Anti-Virus r8.1, which is available at https://support.ca.com.
CA Technology Services, available to provide consulting services for any or all parts of the upgrade, including analysis of the current system, preparation for the upgrade, testing, and performing the upgrade itself. Nothing herein is meant to otherwise affect the rights and/or obligations of you or CA under any existing or future written license agreement or maintenance agreement between us. If your current eTrust Antivirus maintenance term specifies an end date after the applicable date set forth herein, CA will continue to provide support as set forth in your agreement until that date.
